I'm not quite sure how this happened, but somehow the crazy little ukulele channel that I started for a bit of fun back in 2011 has just reached ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!
This is a huge milestone for me, and one I'm personally really proud of! When I made my first video I had no idea that anyone would even watch it, let alone subscribe! In fact, I actually only made it for a friend of mine who had recently bought a ukulele, as a sort of tongue-in-cheek joke that I thought he (and he alone) might enjoy.
Little did I know that people would actually start watching, commenting, sharing and - most importantly of all - asking me to make more.
Suddenly I had a new hobby, and I would try to make a new ukulele video every month, if I had time, just for something to do on a Sunday evening.
Little did I know that in a couple of years I would have quit my job, recorded at Abbey Road Studios with Mark Ronson, appeared on The Brit Awards, moved to the U.S.A. and been shouted out by stars as diverse as Dick 'n' Dom and Grace VanderWaal.
To say that YouTube changed my life would be an understatement!
I just want to say that I'm massively grateful to anyone who has ever so much as watched one of my videos. It's such a crazy, bizarre, surreal moment that I'm not sure what else to say. Thank you!
(Here's to the next million!)
